Rumour: Silverlight to bring Windows Phone 7 apps to Xbox 360

Flash alternative Silverlight is said to be on its way to the Xbox 360, granting the console the ability to run Windows Phone 7 games and applications.

Engadget reports a rumour that next week's MIX 11 Microsoft developer conference will introduce a new version of Silverlight with cross-platform capabilities.

Silverlight was launched in 2007 as an alternate method of creating media-rich Internet content beyond the ubiquitous Adobe Flash, and has been through five major revisions.

Microsoft has since integrated the tech into its mobile phone environments.
