Report – RAGE single player lasts 15 hours

Wednesday, 6th April 2011 14:16 GMT By Johnny Cullen

RAGE’s single player is set to last up to 15 hours, according to a new report.

Examiner is quoting the latest issue of OXM US and an interview with creative director Tim Willits in saying the game’s story can be finished in just over half a day.

A chunk of the game’s single player has been shown off since last year, with a recent trailer going over some of the main bits from it.

id is still to show off the game’s multiplayer, although Willits said that’ll come at some point this year at Eurogamer Expo last year.

RAGE releases on September 13 in the US and September 16 in the US for PS3, 360 and PC.

I surmise that’s just doing to main story missions? Seems a trifle short otherwise, unless I’ve completely misunderstood what they’re trying to do.

@1, no skill trees and no RPG elements. Or if there are they are small as possible.

ID Games are FPS only in 90%

Damn. I was hoping this would be more along the lines of Fallout 3 with regards to time investment.

Again, why they release this sort of information to the public pre-release is beyond me. Seems would only hurt sales to some degree..

Players will be able to upgrade their cars with money won from races.
There is inventory system and the capabilities of weapons will be based around types of ammo There will also be side missions.
”The engine comes with a new content-creation tools package called id Studio, which is supposed to be much more user-friendly and polished than in earlier versions. Previously, content creation required artists to run various command line tools beyond the level editor’s own tools, while id Tech 5 allows for all work to be done ‘in-engine’.While id Software will be using the engine solely for creating shooter games, the engine also has the capability to operate outside of this genre.”

Didn’t know it had a multiplayer, so thats Interesting, but not a deal breaker. Glad theirs not any rpg levelling trees tbh. I’ll get all my replay value from exploration.

    @3 stop being an idiot.

Yes, this game will have RPG elements. Their is an inventory system and weapon customization based on ammo. But few details have been given about a skill tree. Think “boardlands meets fallout 3 meets motorstorm”

@Erthazus… that’s not entirely true. There’s plenty to upgrade in the game – such as the weapons you use and the vehicles you’ll drive. There’s also stuff you’ll find in the game world that you can use to build new gadgets (wingsticks, turrets, and more).

RAGE is definitely an FPS at its core, but it also offers a lot more variance than any previous id title.

@7, stop being retard. That inventory system is almost in any ID Game.
Crysis 2 also have an inventory system, but that does not mean it is RPG.

RAGE is FPS at it’s core so please shut your little pie hole. the only thing that will be there that feels like RPG is the upgrade system, but again there are a lot of FPS with this.

@9 just because things are seen as common, does not mean they don’t exist. You said there are “no RPG elements” when infact, the game has plenty and has been marketed to the media as such. You are also talking about things that are yet to be determined. How about you shut your pie hole, eh? I personally, do not commonly type with my mouth open.
