NBA Jam: On Fire Edition, new sim inbound

EA is getting back in the game, confirming it will resurrect its NBA simulation series and release a new version of NBA Jam.

EA-owned Madden NFL developer Tiburon Studios is working on a new basketball sim, for release in 2012.

The developer's first foray into basketball, NBA Elite 11, was unceremoniously cancelled by EA. The game's title has not been revealed.

The NBA Jam remake, originally intended as a bonus digital title for those who purchased NBA Elite 11, was instead given a full physical release.

The new version, NBA Jam: On Fire Edition, will launch on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live in northern autumn.

New features include AI borrowed from Fight Night; online competition Jam Arena; a new campaign called Road Trip; updated rosters and more secret characters.
