Report - Sony releasing Android-based tablet this summer

A Bloomberg report has cited Sony CEO Sir Howard Stringer as confirming in Japanese newspaper Nikkei that an Android-based tablet from the company is on the way - for release this summer.

It says that the device will run Android 3.0 Honeycomb, and that it will hit the US market first.

It was reported earlier this year that a tablet, thought to be codenamed the S1, would be PlayStation Certified and will come with games packed in. It's unknown if this is the same thing, though.

Announced back at the NGP reveal in January in Tokyo, PS Suite will enable Android devices and tablets to be PlayStation Certified and feature related games and content.
