Bizarre was “too ambitious” under Activision, says ex-staffer
Ex Bizarre team member, and now founder of recently-opened iOS studio Hogrocket, Ben Ward, has said the PGR and Blur developer was “too ambitious” whilst it was under the control of Activision.

NFS World adds Team Escape in new update
EA’s released a new update for Need for Speed World, which sees the inclusion of new mode Team Escape. The addition sees the cops been given new ways to stop you and your crew, with team pursuit runs now extended up to eight minutes. You’ll get something too in the form of new team abilities: Team Emergency Evade and Team Slingshot. Full details on the update are at the NFSW website.

Choplifter HD to mix original game’s “accessibility” with “state of the art graphics and sound”
InXile founder Brian Fargo has said the reason his team decided to bring a reboot of Choplifter to PC and PS3 is because it wanted “to blow it out to the next level and introduce it to a new generation of game players.”

Rumour: Production on old Disaster Report games ceased
According to an Andriasang report, production on past Disaster Report games have been stopped. Retailer Famicom Plaza says that company Irem has stopped printing the two past PS2 games and a PSP title in the wake of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami three weeks ago. The company also confirmed following the events in Japan it had outright cancelled development on its PS3 sequel, Disaster Report 4.

Back to the Future episode two hitting PSN “soon”, Ep three now available
Telltale has confirmed the second episode of Back to the Future will be available fron the EU PSN “soon.” It’ll be available from the US PSN later today. The third episode, known as Citizen Brown, is now available for PC and Mac. The next chapter, four, will launch in April.

PSN to get emergency maintenance tonight
SCEE’s announced that PSN is to get emergency maintenance for a couple of hours this evening. Starting at 4.30pm, the work will last until 7.00pm. PSN users will be unable to use PC registration until 4.15pm and account management until 5.30pm. And that’s it.

Starcraft II hits China on April 6
NetEase has confirmed that the Chinese version of Starcraft II will release on April 6, with the local version of the RTS’s beta starting today. Following the beta users will be able to purchase game time in 30-day increments for a price of RMB20 ($3), for both the multiplayer and single-player elements. Starcraft II was originally released in July 2010 in the rest of the world, selling more than 1.5 million copies in its first 48 hours; it has LtD sales of 4.5 million copies globally. More on GI.

Bungie: Activision “really committed to being hands-off” with new IP
