PSA: Motorstorm Apocalypse launches in the UK today

Thursday, 31st March 2011 11:17 GMT By Johnny Cullen

Just a heads-up reminder as today’s a Thursday, not a Friday. Sony releases Motorstorm Apocalypse today in the UK. The Evolution racer was delayed following the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, but is available to pick up now. Read this reviews round-up to see why you should probably buy it. And for good measure, hit up our interview with game director Matt Southern from earlier this month here.

Thanks for this. Online, there seemed to be confusion over whether it was this week or next, but it’s great to see that there’ll be no need to wait any longer to tear it up in the latest Motorstorm!

The first Motorstorm was very good. 2 and 3 are the very definition of mediocre.

As for arcade racer of the generation? LMFAO, I dont think so. Blur, Pure, Dirt 2, basically anything with a 4 letter name pisses all over Motorstorm.

If they could take what made MS1 good, like the wide open track design and the down-and-dirty style/feel, and make it not be a random crash generator and not have it take the whole of lunchtime to load a level then they could have a contender on their hands.

    Got it yesterday. Fantastic.

    And all at 1080p which I wasn’t expecting…

I didn’t enjoy the demo so much. It’s the MS handling but in a too enclosed and tight environment. It’s too in your face all the time for me. What I loved about MS1 was that it had these moments of excitement and thrill, but they were moments and not constant which is what actually made the game.

I suppose we criticise games for not reinventing themselves enough with sequels, I shouldn’t bitch too much about one which has gone for something different (for it as a series). It’s taken a direction I don’t much like though. If you do like it then have a blast though.

@8: Tried it online, yet, and if so how did you find that in multiplayer?

@8 which level is in the demo ? If it’s the rooftop city one then it’s not very representative as the rest of the game is the usual MS chaos that we know and love.
