“We are not done with Gordon Freeman’s adventures. I have nothing other than that to tell you today, but hang in there with us.” – Doug Lombardi, Valve Software, speaking to Ausgamers.

There’s no way they can let him die anyway!

I had pretty much completely forgotten about Half Life Episode 3/Half Life 3 until I saw this post. Where is it!?

I can’t even believe they’re still making it. Surely it’ll be part of HL3, or whatever it’s going to be?

How can you kill an iconic character anyway? Freeman is in the history books.

I’m not sure that they are making episode 3. I think they are making Next Source Engine and Counter Strike with Half-Life 3.

@mojo Is that a good idea? ep 1 and 2 will probably be showing their age by now.

@7 Gabe Newell’s said before that the episodes are Half-Life 3.

Quite the opposite, actually. They’ve said a Half-Life 3 will arrive after Episode Three or whenever the episodes end. Either way, the episodes aren’t Half-Life 3.

The Right Man at No Place can make no difference, Valve.

Episode 3 would have to be in an all new engine otherwise it’ll be severely outdated. My point being I think they’re gonna skip Episode 3, and conclude the whole thing with HL3. Fuck episode 1 and 2 (granted 2 was awesome), they’re like expansions to HL2 and always felt that way to me, despite what Newell said about them being “part 3″.

@13 Actually they did say at one point that the episodes were instead of making a whole new game. As they put it, instead of waiting another 5 or so years for a full new game they would bring 3 episodes out in shorter time span and they did say they probz should have named them Half Life 3:Episode 1 & 2. That was a while ago so they’ve probz decided to go the Half Life 3 way instead.

Ep2 ended on such a cliff hanger, i’ve been waiting over 3 years to what happens next!
