Melbourne to host official Australian 3DS launch

Nintendo Australia has released details of its official midnight launch of the 3DS, at the Swanston Street EB Games in Melbourne.

Nintendo representatives will be on hand to demonstrate the console to the queue, and will be giving away a 3DS. Yes, just one. No games and goodie bags for us, apparently.

Food, drink and musical entertainment will be provided, and attendees will take home "their very own Mii souvenir".

Ninty reminds those considering attending that you'll have an excellent chance to collect a bunch of Street Pass data and Miis.

The 3DS launches in Australia on March 31, so you'll need to rock up next Wednesday to wait out the countdown.

Thirteen titles will be available at launch - Nintendogs + Cats; Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition; Super Monkey Ball 3D; Ridge Racer 3D; Rayman 3D; Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs 3D; LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars; The Sims 3; Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell 3D; Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars; Asphalt 3D; Rabbids Travel in Time 3D and Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 3D.

Lauren Wainwright attended the European launch at the Oxford Street HMV in London last night; sounds like it was quite excitin'.
