Devil Survivor 2 announced for DS

Atlus has raised a few eyebrows by unveiling Devil Survivor 2 in this week's Famitsu, eschewing the glories of the third dimension to stand by the humble DS.

Andriasang reports the game's plot involves daily attacks from the enigmatic Septentrion forces.

Thirteen devil summoners will combat the invaders, including the third year high school student protagonist. Two other characters have been revealed, both classmates of the main character - talented student Io, and cheerful childhood friend Daichi.

A new system focusing on friendship ties has been introduced.

Sound designer Kenji Ito, Septentrion designer Mohiro Kitou, and returning character designer Suzuhito Yasuda are confirmed development staff, with the game due over Northern summer.

Atlus is producing an enhanced version of the original Devil Survivor, part of the Shin Megami Tensei franchise which also includes the Persona series, for the 3DS. This version, Overclocked, is also due this summer.
