Rumour – Steam video recorder coming “very soon,” iOS and Android support feasable

Tuesday, 22nd March 2011 20:42 GMT By Alex Donaldson

Gabe Newell has spilled the beans on some future plans for Steam while speaking to a very lucky fan on a visit to Valve this week, according to a new rumour.

The chap in question is a long-time member of the Team Fortress 2 community going by the handle of “Political Gamer,” and apparently got the chance to visit Valve and chat to the boss-man while there.

Political Gamer’s post on the Steam message board reports that Newell said that a video recording system for Steam would be made available “very soon”.

This would be a logical next-step for Valve, who recently added the ability to take screenshots via the Steam Client.

In addition to that, Newell supposedly said that Valve is thinking about adding Steam support to iOS and Android-based mobile devices in the future. To be clear, the post doesn’t say this is a certainty – just that it is being looked at for the future of Steam.

This is a rumour, so as always take it with a pinch of salt. Thanks, BigDownload.

All they need to do next is add a system to show FPS on the screen and FRAPS would be out of business.
