Pokemon Global Link launch delayed

Nintendo has delayed the launch of the Pokemon Global Link Service which was due to go live on March 30 to an as-yet unnamed future date.

Citing the need to conserve energy in Japan following the catastrophic earthquake that severely damaged the country's power infrastructure, Nintendo issued a statement saying the launch of the service has been "temporarily delayed."

The full statement on the Global Link website reads as follows: "The Pokémon Global Link was scheduled to launch on March 30, 2011. As a result of the earthquake in Japan and the need to conserve energy resources, the launch date has been temporarily delayed. When a new launch date is determined, it will be published here on the Pokémon Global Link. We apologize sincerely for any inconvenience caused by this delay."

The Global Link Service will allow players to access a bunch of new features in Pokemon Black and White when it finally does launch and will open up access to the Dream World and Pokemon which can't usually be caught on the game.
