Gameloft takes aim at WoW with Order & Chaos iOS MMO

Friday, 18th March 2011 05:21 GMT By Nathan Grayson

These days, it seems like you haven’t “made it” until Gameloft’s taken your idea, zapped it with a shrink ray, and squeezed it onto an iDevice.

So congratulations, World of Warcraft. Welcome to the big leagues. 12 million subscribers? Pfft. Here’s your real badge of honor.

Pocket Gamer brings word of Gameloft’s upcoming “tribute” – the latest in a long and distinguished line that carries pronounced strains of Halo, Call of Duty, StarCraft, and Uncharted, among others.

For the moment, actual details are scarce. The game’s definitely an MMO, but other than that, Gameloft’s letting a short trailer do the talking. And it’s definitely impressive, but – well – have you ever shown up to a party in the same outfit as someone else? Well, Order & Chaos, welcome to the Internet. Here, we notice things.

Dead and gone? The company has recently revealed ten titles that they will be bringing over to Xperia Play, two of which will be pre-loaded. Modern Combat, their COD clone, even got ported to PS3. They are bigger than ever. And thanks to people like Jim Sterling who are pushing them they’ll grow even bigger.
Personaly I don’t know if I like that a company that is producing nothing but rip-offs is so successfull.
Sure they bring games like Uncharted and Halo to a platform that would most likely never get a similar experience otherwise, but the boldness of their strategy pisses me off.

How many of you actually know that the owner of Gameloft is the brother of Ubisoft? Yeah.

I don’t mind Gameloft one bit. They bring some excellent games, however ‘inspired’. It’s not like they are doing a bad job. NOVA is freaking good. Their recently released Rainbow Six is fantastic as well. Most of their games are.

Plus, we get to experience console games on the iOS. Gameloft is the only company that’s actually attempting to do so.
