Steam Guard officially launches
Valve’s Steam Guard has launched, giving users with compatible Intel processors the ability to lock their account to just one PC.
When using Steam Guard, if another computer should attempt to access a protected account, a verification email will be sent to the users registered email address. If this email message is not actioned, that new machine won’t be able to get to access that account’s games and details.
The service uses Intel’s Intel Identity Protection Technology, compatible only with 2nd Generation Intel CoreT and Intel CoreT vProT processors, and is apparently so secure that Gabe Newell felt comfortable revealing his password to the crowd at GDC.
Steam Guard was unveiled at GDC, and has been in beta.

It’s available to all Steam users, not just those with Intel processors.
It even says so on the FAQ on the Steam support section.

Mine is already protected and I didn’t even know.
BTW, Abra is correct because I’m using a Phenom 2 1100T.
