Dragon Quest IX ships 5.3 million units
Square Enix has announced that worldwide shipment figures for Dragon Quest IX have topped 5.3 million units as of December 2010, making the title the largest selling in the series’ history. It’s the first title in the series to go over the 5 million mark. The series overall has shipped 57 million units.

DS games are the easiest to pirate, so I guess this proves that if you make a great game on the DS it will sell.
