Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One enters third dimension

Sunday, 13 March 2011 21:30 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Sony has confirmed that Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One will feature stereoscopic 3D.

Joystiq noted the inclusion during a SXSW Interactive demo event.

All 4 One is a four player co-op title which stands outside the core Ratchet & Clank story so far. Qwark and Doctor Nefarious are the other characters, and drop-in drop-out multiplayer is the go.

It’s due exclusively for PlayStation 3 in northern autumn.

Yay, more time consuming gimmicks, that I can’t utilise, please Sony!

“Yay, more time consuming gimmicks, that I can’t utilise, please Sony! ”

you can. go buy yourself a 3D TV.

“I’m sure the developers love have precious dev time wasted by this pathetic initiative.”

To make a decent 3D effect you need 1-3 people (engineers) only…. So much of a precious dev time…

Can I haz your magic money well? I’m shitting out brown here, NOT £5 notes. Not to mention the foolishness of buying a glasses-required 3DTV at the moment, what with glasses-less units on horizon.

I have yet to meet anyone with a 3DTV, nor have I met someone who wishes to have one. Sony is lumping this initiative onto dev teams to try and move tech that they foolishly lumped money into.

Never has a technology been pushed so hard that the general populous cared so little about.

“Not to mention the foolishness of buying a glasses-required 3DTV at the moment, what with glasses-less units on horizon.”

this gen of consoles does not support it.

“I have yet to meet anyone with a 3DTV”

I have 3D monitor and Nvidia 3D vision and Sony is not the only who is pushing dev teams for 3D effects (Cut the crap Onlineatron, because to make 3D effects you need 1-3 people. This is not much). Nvidia for example also push 3D and they started it earlier then Sony.
Great games with 3D looks absolutely fantastic.

^ I love how you’re defending SONY and 3D in this article but bash it during the UC3 article last week. What a tool. Onlineatron non of this is mandatory. 5 years from now when you finally jump on the bandwagon of 3D games you’ll appreciate that you can go back and play a great selection of older games that support it.

Also can people stop accusing SONY for forcing 3D on the market. Just because they enabled the PS3 to do it and it seems like the trojan horse in a sense like Blu-Ray doesn’t make them the bad guys. Samsung,Panasonic,LG,Nvidia and others are using 3D in their products also.

Love how people can complain about something SONY offers as optional but M$ is still getting away with mandatory pay for play online.

my friend bought a 3D TV the day Samsung first released one, and he works at Comet, Discount or no discount, he still paid well over £2k for new TV lol, but he said KZ3 was awesome in 3D, personally I want decent graphics, 3D gaming should have AA and good textures, so if they can’t do that I will wait until 3D gaming gets good.

    #7 4 years ago
  8. theevilaires

Lounds WTF are you talking about? Have you ever seen a 3D in your home or in a private setting? It looks just as good as 2D but things pop out the screen. Where are all these people getting this shit from that 3D makes games look worst? I’m really puzzled. If you don’t own or haven’t used a 3D in a home setting then stop bashing it dude because take it from me and your friend its awesome and it works fine without sacrificing anything graphically.

I’m playing Call of Duty Black Ops for the platinum trophy now and I’m using 3D for that game and it looks great. Now imagine KZ3 a game far graphically superior and in 3D and you have yourself a beast of biblical proportion.

“^ I love how you’re defending SONY and 3D in this article but bash it during the UC3 article last week.”

I’m not defending Sony you idiot. I’m defending the 3D technology.
Besides, Uncharted 3 in 3D looks worse then in the original version, so there is no point and Uncharted 3 in graphics looks dumbed down compared to Uncharted 2 because Ps3 is a weak system and is not capable of rendering the game twice without sacrificing the details.

In your Sony slaves eyes only.
and i’m sure that i played some game in 2007 and in 2009 that have not these CRAPPY bland textures. So no, it sure looks good for the PS3 game, but nowhere near as games like ARMA 2 or Crysis 1 in terms of graphics.

Not to mention about Battlefiled 3 that will utilize multi core processor and direct X 11, so NO!

Umm I don’t think its smart to be claiming uc3 looks crap by a few screenshots and the game is still in its polishing days. That’s like how df and lens of t were comparing demos of games when most demos are like beta coding. Those were definetly the dumbest comparisons I see to this day.

Gears of War looks better than Crysis 1 face it PC games suck and none will ever be notice for GOTY. UC3 on the other hand will be GOTY and PC games will fall yet another year to the superior console market. Sorry Erthazus but you’re much of a fad as your inferior PC games.

Ireland Michael. I’m puzzled by your behaviour. One week you’ll advise others not to get involved and merely scroll past or ignore a certain comment(er). Other times you’ll critique others when they make a snap judgement on a game based on some graphics or a trailer and then I’ll read numerous comments from you based on trailer footage and nothing else. Your contribution to this conversation doesn’t add to the topic but just seeks to damn a specific poster.

I’ve read a lot of stuff from you and you have the ability to contribute some interesting feedback. But these week-by-week inconsistencies undermine any worth in your comments.

    On topic:
Good gameplay, yes please. 3D, no thanks.

You don’t look at the facts, yes you’re defending what you belive is true, but KZ3 in 3D has no AA, and to me from reading this whole page, you’ve never played proper PC games before.

I love my PS3, at the moment I’m hooked on Infamous, and I will say it has some amazing looking titles such as UC1/2, but for you to say GoW is better looking than crysis… Mate what ever you’re on, I want some :)

Aaaannnddd.. to bring it back on topic..

I’m not sure why people are bovering to play in 3D. I have to wear glasses every day, so why should I have to wear glasses just to play a game?

3D started years ago and it wasn’t good then and it still isn’t good now. In my opinion, its just another fad to sell a game/platform on as it begins its limp to the old platforms home before a newer, bright, shinier model comes out.

    #31 4 years ago
  32. theevilaires

“Not worth the price in my opinion but still nice either way”.

Oh I didn’t know 3D games cost more than games not with the feature….and on that note I didn’t know 3D tvs couldn’t produce or turn off the effect of 3D at your will. Fact of the matter is if you’re on the market for a new TV regardless of 3D you should strive for the best quality if you can….if you can’t then you should just wait until you can. A 55″ SONY Bravia 1080p @240HZ for $1500 is a hell of a deal even without 3D.

Fact of the matter is SONY had been talking about 3D for a long time since CES 2010 and now Feb 2011 the tech is taking off. All of you have proper time to upgrade if you wanted but obviously you didn’t give a damn. So please since you didn’t give a damn about a feature you didn’t want do feel free to critique it either. thats like going on Amazon or and typing reviews for shit you don’t own. I’m gonna love 1 year from now when all you retards finally get a 3D tv how much you’re going to be sucking SONY’s cock and praising the PS3 for being a great 3D game and movie player.

I’m telling everyone here it doesn’t matter if you’re playing it in 3d or not KZ3 looks the same either way graphically but 3D is super cool and doesn’t lose any effects or look any worst than being in 3D from 2D. BECAUSE I OWN IT , NOT MY FRIEND!!!! I CAN SEE IT FOR MY SELF WHENEVER I WANT BECAUSE I OWN IT…..NOT MY FRIEND LOUNDS!

as for kz3, dont care if its 3d or not, as far as online is concerned, its awesome and worth my purchase.

  37. spiderLAW

I didn’t say the games cost more TEA. The feature in the TV does. The output box does. The glasses do. And honestly it isn’t all worth it, especially if your money barely pays for the necessities as it is (especially my daughter’s needs). In the end I would have to spend around another $900 for the 3D feature and it definitely isn’t worth it bro. I want to play in 3D, it would be nice, but it isnt worth the price its going for. Please tell me, were Bluray players worth the $1,000 – $1,500 they were going for? Were bluray movies worth the $40 they were going for? NOPE, But, is a bluray player worth the $75-$300 they go for now? Are bluray movies worth the $8-$20 they go for now? Hell yes they are. Im just thinking logically buddy.

@14 “Gears of War looks better than Crysis 1 face it”

@27 There are certain individuals I’ll make an exception for. Mainly one.

The difference is I’m responding to people who actually think they’re contributing to a topic. The individuals I’ve said in the past to ignore are those are blatant trolls – the kind of people who post “dis format sux” one line posts.

@35 And yet another person asks for an ignore button. I posted up a thread on the forums about a potential way to get an ignore feature on the site, but I’ve yet to see anyone help with the solution.

It’s not going to happen unless people help out.

Thats what I’m saying if you can’t get it now then get it later but don’t just shrug it off like its meh who cares. Its nice to have but definitely not needed to enjoy your games but it does enhance the games in a way. There’s just too many people here knocking the tech because it comes with a price tag outside their budget just like they did with the PS3 years ago.

Like I said I bought a 55″ 1080p 240HZ SONY Bravia that came with a slew of awesome features besides 3D which include:

    Motionflow PRO 240Hz Technology

    Dynamic Edge LED Backlight

    BRAVIA Engine 3

    USB Input

    DLNA Compatible

    Deep Black Panel

    Network TV Apps

    Wi-Fi Ready

    BRAVIA Internet Video

    and many more besides 3D

I paid an additional $400 (2 pair of glasses,HDMI SONY cable,Copy of Alice in Wonderland 3D,and the 3D emitter) because I already owned or we’re about to invest in more games/movies in 3D. If the TV could do it I might as well get the full potential value out of it right? SONY didn’t put a gun to my head and force me to buy it and $400 to enjoy my digital entertainment (to me) wasn’t an issue. But I bought my TV because I wanted something bigger for GT5 and my racing wheel. 55″ for $1500 is a steal….especially a Bravia.

3D is just a bonus that I invested in shortly after and I kinda did it for the community of VG247 also so when you guys have questions I could let you know if its good or not. Dr.G has asked me a lot of questions and I can assure him with real answers.

Check out the TV for yourself and exclude the 3D stuff and this TV is still top of the LINE and I wouldn’t play GT5 on anything less.

@38 Nope. Sorry. Excusing yourself by attempting to make the target of your comments accountable for the words you choose to write isn’t a very good argument. Likewise, berating others for the same behaviour you allow yourself to exhibit when it suits you is nothing more than hypocrisy.

@Ireland – I seriously would help out if I could code etc. But I can’t..

I really like this site but the constant arguing over the various formats is really off putting, sometimes I want to comment and I don’t even bother. All the good (on-topic) comments get buried in fanboyic bullshit

LOL I would even donate to get a damn ignore feature!

Yeah i wasnt knocking the 3D tech itself, 3D is great. I was knocking its price. When it becomes more affordable, ill get it. At the moment, its not affordable and im doing just fine with my 55″ 1080p Plasma. However, i see price drops on the tech in the next 18months which by then if i dont need a new car (My Ford Focus SVT 5speed manual Turbo charged is at 165,000 miles but still runs like a champ. I just know that high powered engine topped with the blower wont last as long as it would normally so im getting scared) then i should have enough for the new TV for the living room of my new house that i will be buying at the beginning of next year.
