Tribes: Ascend set to release this year for PC, XBL
Hi-Rez Studios has announced Tribes: Ascend, a multiplayer-only title heading to PC and XBL this year.
Speaking with PC Gamer, Hi-Rez COO Todd Harris said: “Before Halo, before Modern Warfare, and before Battlefield, there was Tribes. Tribes fans appreciate the game’s essence–athletic FPS combat combined with teamwork and strategy.
“As we began development of Tribes Universe, we focused first on capturing that essence–refining and modernizing iconic elements like jetpacks, skiing, and vehicles. We’ve had tremendous fun play-testing and realized the potential of a multiplayer focused title ahead of Tribes Universe. The community has been waiting for a multi-player shooter that is the modern successor to T2. Tribes: Ascend is that game.”
The UR3 game does not have an exact date just yet, but it should keep you pacified until the Tribes Universe MMO is finally released.

^^ it is predecesor of Unreal,Quake…it evolved around Jet pack,teamwork and frenetic action

It wasnt those games predecesor either. It was their successor.
Quake – June 1996
Unreal – May 1998
Tribes – Nov 1998

Yea but almost as Unreal i remember Tribe 2 that was unique when was released, maybe Quake 3 wasn’t release back then can’t rembember.Also its funny how game is similar now(setting,gameplay…) with Section 8 which is also digital only game in 2011.

I see what you are saying, yeah. Its really the first team based strategy type FPS of its kind. It was fun, but hard too, especially for a kid (i was only 12 at the time).
I ahvent played section 8…is it any good?

Awesome, i hope it plays like either Starsiege Tribes or Tribes II that were on PC.

tribes was one of the most amazing games ever.. esp after the modding community got ahold of the game.
