UK teacher dobs school kids in for illicit late night gaming

Thursday, 10th March 2011 00:02 GMT By Brenna Hillier

A concerned teacher has found extended late night gaming sessions are having a detrimental effect on his student’s health and education, and contacted over 600 parents to alert them to the problem.

BBC News reports Plymouth-based Richard Gribble questioned tired students and discovered three quarters of his pupils were indulging in gaming sessions in the evenings.

Some of Gribble’s students admitted to staying up until four in the morning while gaming, and to doing so without their caregivers’ knowledge.

The teacher sent a newsletter to parents and guardians of children enrolled at Widey Court primary School advising them of his findings, as he believed caregivers could not be aware of their children’s nocturnal activities.

“My main concern is the amount of time some pupils are spending on the consoles,” he said.

“The worrying thing is these pupils will soon be starting secondary school where they’ll receive more homework and need to spend more time on their work.”

Thanks, Golden.
