Quake 4 now legally available to download in US and Canada

Tuesday, 1st March 2011 12:34 GMT By Johnny Cullen

Bethesda’s made id shooter Quake 4 available via legal downloadable means, a mere five years after it first released.

The game was released back in 2005 for PC and as an Xbox 360 launch title.

The shooter’s been made available on Stardock’s Impulse storefront. It’s only there for those in the US and Canada, though.

Bethesda, who now owns id, is publishing the game, previously released by Activision, on the service.

Thanks, BigDownload.

Wow id has quite the history of publishers. Up till Rage, they were with Acti, after that Rage changed publishers twice.

Well, I can’t blame them. They were neglected under Acti, and EA had a lot of other shooters on it’s plate that id felt were going to get priority of them, so they joined up with a small but well known publisher to become their premier in house FPS studio. Sounds like a smart bet to be honest.
