Famitsu: Last Guardian has gameplay gauges, uses fake language

The new issue of Famitsu has provided a wealth of new information on The Last Guardian.

The magazine, which has a four page feature on the game as well as an interview with Team ICO boss Fumito Ueda, says that, from the outset, the boy and Torico – the cat dragon thing – won’t be able to communicate.

In some of the trailers shown so far, Torico is seen eating food given to him by the boy, but it says in the Famitsu piece that he’ll spit out stuff he doesn’t like.

Also, if the boy is caught by enemy guards in the game, the adventure won’t immediately end.

Team ICO also said it’s looking at adding gauges to support the player, with one for Torico. Apparently, this is something Ueda is stressing about.

Torico’s actions reach “down to the level of his reacting differently depending on the sound in the area”.

Last Guardian also uses a fake language, as did precursors ICO and Shadow of the Colossus.

Speaking of those, Ueda said that for the ICO and Shadow Collection, the opening cut-scene of ICO is being remade and that Shadow looks amazing in 3D.

There’s more info on Andriasang.

The Last Guardian releases this holiday season for PS3.

thanks pat.
ok, thats what i thought it is, but how this this support players?

is it ment that u have a certain amopunt of health and its gets either displayed or not? then i understand what they mean with “support”.
initialy i interpreted it as if u have either a certain amount of health, or u are “one-stroke-and-u-die”

@5 We’ll just have to wait to find out more.

There isn’t a single game I want more than this, seriously. I can’t wait.
