Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime never crosses the streams

Franchise fans may be disappointed to learn that Atari's solution to the problem of crossed streams in Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime is to decide it can never, ever happen.

Senior producer Jonathon Moses told Joystiq the development team tried several solutions with no luck.

"We tried a couple different models where it'd stun you or open up a hole to another dimension," he said, "But these didn't really work. So they go in and around each other and never touch."

The Ghostbusters canon famously holds that you should never cross the energy streams of the ghost-capturing Proton Packs; a line from the 1984 film warning against it is enmeshed in popular and geek culture.

Not the easiest rule to take into a top-down, co-op twin stick shooter.

Sanctum of Slime releases via the PSSN and XBLA in March.
