Battlefield 3: First gameplay video, pre-order details

EA has released a video featuring the first gameplay footage of Battlefield 3. It's posted below the break, along with some pre-order information.

As a pre-order incentive, EA and DICE are offering the digital expansion pack Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand at no extra charge. It's a themed multiplayer expansion pack which includes four maps from Battlefield 2 re-imagined with Frostbite 2 physics, destruction and visuals.

Battlefield 2 weapons and vehicles, unique rewards, new Achievements, Trophies, and more are included. You can pre-order here.

In Battlefield 3, players step into the shoes of the US Marines and fight across locations such as Paris, Tehran and New York.

“We wanted to create the most immersive and emotionally powerful Battlefield game ever and we needed new technology to deliver on our vision,” said Patrick Bach, the game's executive producer.

“Battlefield 3 preserves the franchise’s signature sandbox style and even brings back classic fan favorites like jets, going prone and 64-player multiplayer on PC.”

This is the first core entry in series since 2005′s Battlefield 2, although spin-offs Battlefield 2142, Battlefield 1943, both Bad Company titles and Battlefield Heroes were released in subsequent years.

Battlefield 3 releases this fall for PS3, 360 and PC, and dedicated servers have been confirmed.

The game will get its first formal reveal during an EA Partners event at GDC next week.
