Seems like some good scores, but it’s probably just me, but I’m not interested in a single game on that list. And no I’m not flamebaiting

Konami made a great decision getting Winning Eleven/Pes out at launch. In that line-up, it’ll be the main draw for the core crowd.

The best game there is apparently Nintendogs + Cats, so $250 (plus however much the game itself costs) to play a stupid pets game? A HUGE no thanks.

I’ve no doubt that some better games are just around the corner, but even so, I just can’t get excited enough about the 3d concept or any of the titles announced thus far. The whole thing just seems grossly overhyped for what it is.

If you think “pets games” are stupid, then it’s hardly going to be the “best” game for you, is it?

No, but the fact that these reviews suggest that a game (which looks like it should be aimed at 4-10 yr olds) is the best the 3DS currently has to offer isn’t exactly encouraging.

Decent scores on the whole, but meh.

doesn’t famitsu usually give inflated scores anyway?

Only if you book enough advertising.

Famitsu scores aren’t based wholly on the game itself, they take into account how popular the game will be and add to the score.

Westerners seem to always forget this.

    Thats an average of 30.7/40
Not good, seeing as its a new piece of hardware.

Congrats. You have set new standards in meaningless statistics.

Thats the first i’ve heard of that. Is “Possible popularity” an actual metric they use in their reviews along side graphics, story and such?

All review scores are subjective anyway. That’s why you should never judge your opinion based on score, and the same reason that demos should always be released before a game is out.

#1 I agree with you entirely.

The scores are irrelevant on their own as there’s a huge bias due to it being a new console.

Therefore, the only way I see the scores being of any use at all is to compare them with each other – across the launch titles.

That means that Nintendogs is the best game of the launch titles.

    Epic. Fail.

I’ll be picking up my 3DS in the Summer, when a game or two that I would actually like to play comes out.

I will be picking Super Street Fighter IV 3D, Nintendogs + Cats and Ridge Racer 3D.
The thing that bothers me is why pilotwings and steel dive were not reviewed?, those are my two top reasons to pick the 3DS on release date

Pilotwings & Steel Diver are not Japanese launch titles…

@15&17: PW is what I;m afte and no review. I’m surprised it’s not a launch title in Jpn, any particular reason we know of…?
