Bulletstorm not required for Gears of War 3 beta

Epic’s Rod Fergusson has confirmed there will be other paths to the Gears of War 3 beta besides the code included with a purchase of the Bulletstorm Epic Edition.

Asked on Twitter whether the code contained in People Can Fly’s FPS is the only ticket into the beta, Fergusson replied “No, but it’s the best way in with [a] headstart and exclusive content”.

The franchise executive producer also commented that the beta would go active at a later date, not at Bulletstorm’s release.

Bulletstorm’s Xbox 360 Epic Edition contains a code which adds a link to the game’s menu, allowing players to access the Gears of War 3 beta.

Fergusson confirmed that beta access is dependent on the Bulletstorm Epic Edition disc, so don’t go trading it in.

On that note, Joystiq has flagged a special deal at Best Buy, where US customers can score the Gears of War Triple Pack for just $5 with a purchase of Bulletstorm.

Thanks, Ray.

I wonder what those others paths will be then, other than the Best Buy deal, which is worth nothing to europeans really.

Gonna guess pre-ordering the game itself (undoubtedly with *selected* retailers) will be one.

If you’re a Gold subscriber they tend to send you beta keys anyway, although not always for ‘day one’. I got one for the Reach demo and… something else, which I can’t remember.
