Nelson confirms Microsoft SF press event for this week

Nelson's outed a key Microsoft press event in San Francisco this week, which will play host to large 360 announcements of which you're to be "really happy".

Speaking in his latest podcast, the Microsoft exec said, as noted by Examiner: "Next week I'm going to be down in San Francisco. We are having an invite-only press event that we're going to have some cool news that I'm not quite fully briefed on, but we have a lot of news that we're going to be announcing.

"Just telling you guys, you're going to be really happy when you hear all the news, that's all I can say."

VG247 believes the event is taking place this Thursday, February 24.

Microsoft UK has this morning confirmed Nelson's statement, but refused to be drawn on content.

"I can confirm that there will be a Microsoft showcase this week in San Francisco," said a UK rep.

"We're not sharing details of the event beforehand, but look forward to revealing the news and experiences at the event."

Going by past form you can expect an early look at Microsoft's major hitters for 2011.

Microsoft has little confirmed as first-party software for this year other than Gears of War 3 and Forza 4, both of which will ship this autumn.
