Sega has shifted 690,000 copies of Football Manager 2011 across all platforms, with a majority of sales in Europe making that territory the publisher’s strongest for packaged games.
In the past financial year, Sega managed to move 1.9 million games in Japan, 5.77 million games in the US, and 5.95 million games across Europe.
“As ever we are fortunate because we’ve had Football Manager, which is only just getting started in the US,” Sega Europe head Jurgen Post told MCV.
“If the US had a title like Football Manager, then our sales would have been the same. Sometimes the US sells a few more copies than us, sometimes they don’t. There’s always a big competition.”
Post said Football Manager 2011 had performed in line with its precursors at retail, but the addition of digital sales meant an increase.
“We’re really happy with that,” he said. “This is one of those titles that is an all-time seller.”
