Sony: platform exclusives are limiting

Sony's Scott McCarthy has outlined the platform holder's approach to exclusivity, describing platform specific titles as limiting.

"When you make a title exclusive, you limit its promotional power; we don’t want to do that," McCarthy told ScrawlFX.

"We want games to be as big as possible — it’s great for the industry," he added.

"We work very closely with our [third party] publishers, not necessarily to lock down games exclusively, but to lock up exclusive parts of games," the brand manager explained

Batman: Arkham Asylum was cited as an example of exclusive content - in this case, the Joker challenge maps, which were only available to PS3 owners.
