Report - Sony's SI tablet runs on Android, is PlayStation Certified 

Engadget has posted a report on the Sony tablet Kaz Hirai mentioned causally and briefly during CES, and according to the site, the tablet runs on a custom version of Android Honeycomb while using the Qriocity media platform.

Currently codenamed S1, the Tegra 2-equipped tablet is PlayStation Certified and will have some PlayStation games already loaded on it when hitting retail.

The design of the tablet, as seen on the website, has a wrap design to mimic "an open paperback stuffed into the back pocket, or a magazine folded backward upon itself such that only a single page is visible to read."

The design apparently will make the tablet's display easier for touch-typing on a table or one-handed and it will feel lighter than an iPad despite weighing the same, due to the weight "shifted directly into the user's hand and over the wrist."

Engadget was told a WiFi only version of the S1 was originally priced comparably to iPad, but was recently given a $599 price tag. It will also supposedly ship in September.
