First Reach Defiant Map Pack trailer confirms March release

Monday, 14th February 2011 14:03 GMT By Johnny Cullen

Halo Waypoint’s released the first trailer for the second Halo Reach DLC pack, the Defiant Map Pack.

The content was first leaked last week. The video contains three new maps for Reach’s multiplayer: Highlands, Condemned and Unearthed.

Highlands is a “a Spartan training facility nestled in the mountains of Reach,” with Condemned being a”mangled communications hub high above the planet.”

For Unearthed, which is the first piece of DLC ever for the game’s Firefight mode, you’ll be “defending the entrance to a key titanium mine.”

The content releases in March for 800 MS points.

I’m not down with the Halo map packs, never really have been. 3 maps isn’t a lot considering the different modes for Halo but also, 3 just isn’t enough in general, CoD pumping out 5 at a time is better, means you get a blast of variety instead of having the maps just incrementally add up. Also, 800 points is too much for 3 maps, meaning I’ll probably not play them outside of a price drop in a sale or a collection where they are better priced.

@4 800 points is a rip off. you would think given the support that series has been given by millions of fans they could give them a few freebies as a thank you or something but no, every penny needed.

They can’t give them away for free, Microsoft won’t let them. Jonathan Blow wanted to give away a free Braid Xbox theme, but Microsoft said no, it has to have a price. They refused to let him give away a theme.

But anyway, why should they be free anyway? Give them away as a “thank you”? What world do you live in? These guys are turning up to work every day to produce these maps, they’re not knocking them out in a spare afternoon, they take a lot of time and development, and they should be paid for their work. Does your boss as you to work a few days for free? “Hey pal, we’ve been paying you for a while, how about you do a few weeks without pay as a thank you to me for giving you this job?” But nope, you need every penny don’t you, you greedy cunt.

@7 Erm.. well, Valve on the PC gives stuff away from free. I don’t think they should be free, just half the price, but free content is good because it gives people a bigger reason to buy the game or to keep it. Games at the end of the day are luxury items and it’s about time developers learn this instead of trying to rip off fans all the time. Because at the end of the day, I can just leave it and be perfectly happy about it.

@7 what world do i live in? the same one as you , how much money does that franchise make? them guys would still get paid for their work by the company that has made millions and millions on this series. all i said was a couple of free maps would not do any harm to show goodwill towards a large and loyal community, it would not bankrupt them and the staff would still get paid for fuck sake. how about ubisoft giving free modes and maps for creed brotherhood? what about them eh? or splinter cell? you’re making out i suggest they should give tons away the way you are harping on, your making out what i said to be far worse than it actually is.

Yeah. Vavle is releasing tons of free content. Epic too, in the old days, like UT Bonus Packs.

It’s supposed to be micro transactions. 3 maps should cost 200 MS points max.

been playing it since November, the multiplayer is ace.. if it wasn’t for all the bitches constantly trying to ruin it.

still 800 msp is a tad bit expensive.

I actually prefer Reach to Black Ops. Every-time I pick up COD, and play with my mates online, I just feel so much hatred towards the game.
