Euro morning news bulletin – February 14, 2011

It's back. Now you don't have to cry into your coffee because you don't know what's going on every morning.

  • PlayStation Phone Xperia Play's shipping in the US this March with 50 games. There's complete coverage of the reveal here.
  • Sony's shipped more than 150 million units of PS2 hardware.
  • Steam's 2010 revenue was in the "high hundreds of millions of dollars". The Valve service apparently commands 70 percent marketshare.
  • BioWare worked on a kung fu parody RPG called Five Fingers of Death. Interplay apparently laughed it out of the building.

Now get your ears round this.

Patrick Garratt is a games media legend - and not just by reputation. He was named as such in the UK's 'Games Media Awards', the equivalent of a lifetime achievement award. After garnering experience on countless gaming magazines, he joined Eurogamer and later split from that brand to create VG247, putting the site on the map with fast, 24-hour a day coverage, and assembling the site's earliest editorial teams. He retired from VG247, and the games industry, in 2017.
