Lugaru clone pulled from App Store, free upgrades to HD version offered

Independent developer Wolfire's nightmare has found some resolution, as the illegal copy of Lugaru undercutting the official release's sales has mysteriously vanished from the App Store.

Although Wolfire are within their rights, the team are sympathetic to those who feel cheated by the withdrawal of the pretender, and are offering a free copy of the full game.

A post on the Wolfire blog announced the clone's withdrawal, which spent a week in the store and reached sixtieth place on the charts.

Apple has maintained a strict silence on the matter, with Wolfire still waiting to hear what happens now.

"We're not sure who took it down, or what will happen to the customers who were tricked into buying the fake copy, or the money they paid for it. We still haven't heard anything from Apple."

Although the real deal, Lugaru HD, is priced at $10, Wolfire are offering a free copy (including a Steam version), to anybody who still has their receipt for the $2 clone. Hit the link above for details on how to take advantage of the offer.
