Namco Bandai secures North American distribution rights for new Power Rangers games

Namco Bandai has announced it's secured exclusive North American rights to publish games based on the Power Rangers IP.

If you never thought you'd see news about the Power Rangers posted on here, add us to your party. We'll bring chips and beer.

According to the press release, Namco plans to create a new series of console games based on the upcoming Power Rangers Samurai series, which premieres February 7 on Nickelodeon.

The show follows a new generation of five Rangers who must master the ancient Samurai Symbols of Power, which give them control over the elements of Fire, Water, Sky, Forest and Earth. Under the guidance of their all-knowing Samurai mentor, Ji, and with the aid of their devoted animal Zords (Lion, Dragon, Ape, Turtle and Bear), they battle to save Earth from the dark forces of the Netherworld led by the evil Master Xandred.

"As we kick off the year as the new Namco Bandai Games, strategic partnerships are a key focus for us," stated vice president of marketing Carlson Choi. "Under this new partnership, I look forward to leveraging our strengths and capabilities with Saban Brands to increase our mutual reach with high quality game content. We are definitely excited to bring the Power Rangers series under our roster of titles."

No word on what's currently in development, yet.
