JA 2 remake renamed Jagged Alliance: Back in Action, screened
Publisher Kalypso has prodded me into remembering the existence of Jagged Alliance 2: Reloaded by renaming it as Jagged Alliance: Back in Action and sending in some rather lovely screenshots.
Back in Action is a remake of the classic tactical RPG sequel, Jagged Alliance 2. First released in 1999, during the later heyday of the TRPG genre on PC (think X-Com and Fallout), JA2 was pretty well received by critics and fans alike. A surprising amount of non-linearity, and later a slew of expansions, ensured a long lifespan and even longer fond memories. Ahh. Those were the days.
Kalypso is promising “modernised gameplay” which should ease the learning curve for newcomers, although it’s a little worrying for veterans hoping for a faithful recreation.
In any case, it looks nice; see the screens below. Back in Action is due for European release in the fourth quarter, exclusively for PC.
Thanks, Blue.

One of the best turnbased tactical games in history.
Sadly, ever since Talonsoft went south, we’ve been promised another game like this at least once every year.
I fully expect the studio to go bankrupt, burn down, and sell the IP to some publishers in the Caucasus.
I’ll believe it when I see it.
