Crysis 2 gets minimum PC specs, Intel Core 2 Duo and up

Crytek’s revealed the minimum specs required to run the PC version of Crysis 2 on its Facebook page.

The info, which was originally posted in German, has been translated by the Geforce team.

From the look of it you won’t be needing a beast for this.

And the “system requirements” are:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon 64 X2 2GHz or better
  • Nvidia 8800 GT or higher
  • 2 GB RAM
  • Windows XP/Vista/7
  • 9 GB free hard disk space
  • Internet connection

Crytek recently confirmed that the PC version of Crysis 2 will come with DirectX 11 support.

The game recently got an exclusive Xbox 360 multiplayer demo, but Crytek has since assured there’ll be a pre-launch demo for PC.

Crysis 2 releases on March 22 in NA and March 25 in Europe for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Or just buy it on Xbox. You don’t have to pay for a PC and the graphics are just as good. Better controls and more people on the servers too.

I think on max there will be:

Intel Core i7 2.8
Nvidia Geforce 480 or higher
6 GB RAM
Windows 7
9 GB free hard disk space
Internet connection

With 3D it’s probably 580 GTX+ or higher

@9 @10 @11

Jeez guys, why the hate? The average 360 player will get a better experience of Crysis 2 than the average PC player. And all 360 players will have better controls and online service. FACT.

@17 You get a written statement from EA to back up that rather bizzarre statement, my drunken friend?

@17, all 360 players will be limited to a 360 controller, pc gamers will have the choice of keyboard and mouse, 360 controller or ps3 controller. So what’s better about controls on the 360 again?

“better online service” really? How so? Xbox Live is really talked up far too much by xbox fanboys. All I’m seeing is a set of fairly standard features behind an exceedingly ugly UI. Please elaborate.

17@ Maybe in Black Ops which is more microsoft oriented but for Crysis i doubt that PC will suffer. It will have dedicated server,M&K are always better then gamepad and you can hook up Xbox controller if you think it is better. And i don’t want to say anything about graphic…

^ You know that its perfectly possible to play with a M&K on 360 using a third party device, right?

Visually, as with all Crytek games, it looks nice. Gameplay, as with all Crytek games will be “meh”.

KZ3, Resistance 3 (console), Portal 2 and Battlefield 3 (PC)….. that is all that matters.

I think there should be a ban on all discussion of unreleased games, except for “I’m interested” or “I’m not interested”.

PROTIP: If it’s not out yet, chances are you’ve no idea how it plays. Opinion is either based on previews (and therefore, other opinions) or video (which is not an accurate indicator).

I’d also like to suggest a ban on the use of the word “fanboy”, along with all complaining. Actually, if comments had to be from a drop down list – “Good point!”, “This looks fun”, “While this looks cool, I personally am not interested” – that’d be awesome.

Not when it’s fucking morons saying “THIS IS GAME IS SO AWESOME”, followed up by another one saying “NO ITS NOT” – “YES IT IS” – “NO ITS NOT”. Then you invariably get another idiot that jumps in with “NO THIS OTHER GAME THAT’S PLATFORM EXCLUSIVE WILL BE BETTER” – “FANBOY” – “NO I’M NOT I’M JUST TELLING THE TRUTH”.

Fuck. That.

@ Fin

Sequels on the most part tend to offer that same quality of gameplay experience (if not better) you expect from the series, so I think it’s fair to confidently predict those titles will be, well, awesome. Plus nearly every game in development recently seems to offer early beta access, which is a good start (albeit not entirely representative) from which to form an opinion. :D

@21, it’s possible, it’s also cheating.

#32

Erthazus
02/02/11, 12:26 pm

@Gekidami, if only that third party supports Crysis.

The best one is XIM3 that is not even out yet.

XIM2 supports not all games and it’s not the same experience like with mouse and keyboard on PC because third party peripherals EMULATE controllers sensitivity. So playing for example any game won’t give you mouse and keyboard PC experience, it’s going to be laggy compared to PC, but much better than playing with the cntroller (if you of course prefer mouse and keyboard over the controller).

With PS3 you can’t even do that at all.

@Fin, “PROTIP: If it’s not out yet, chances are you’ve no idea how it plays. ”

PROTIP: It’s Crytek and first Crysis was great so i have an idea on what this is.

#33

Erthazus

and yes, it’s cheating.

@29 I’d rather suffer the ramblings of a thousand idiots, than have one idiot telling me what i can say :)
@33 Erm… why is it cheating? The peripheral is legit tech right? Not like a modded turbo pad off ebay?

@35, Mouse and keyboard?

XIM2 and … especially XIM3 is freakin amazing devices for mouse and keyboard for 360, but it is damn cheating and illegal. If MS could ban them they would do it in a second, but they can’t because these devices emulate controller sensitivity.

Companies like RAZOR make official pad peripherals. This is not cheating, it’s legit.

you don’t have to agree with me and if you really don’t care, why would you post here in the first place?

maybe you are the one that need to grow up and stop insulting people

@37 Have you tried the Splitfish FragFx controller? That supposedly offers mouse like precision for the ps3.

#40

Redh3lix

@39 I have the FragFX, OrbitMonkey. It’s a nice bit of kit for somebody who finds it difficult to accustom themselves with a PS3 controller, or any console controller. It’s great with fast and twitchy FPS’s such as COD etc. Doesn’t quite compare to my PC’s Diamondback mouse though, but still a good alternative. I wrote a mini review on it here: http://www.firstfrag.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=399:firstfrag-on-fragfx-review&catid=48:features&Itemid=95

@ ALL WHO ARE SAYING HIGH-SPECS = SUPREME GRAPHICS

you guys really are glorifying its power consumption.
Requiring a strong machine to play at minimum settings is nothing to cheer about. Again Crytek fails to see PC gaming as a whole.
Anyways…we shall see how much of a graphics leap this is compared to Crysis 1 and Warhead… Specs dont always tell all.

Sucks that just to play this game on High (not even max)settings my core i7 needs a new graphics card.
