Nintendo: Lifetime DS sales hit 144 million, Wii almost 85 million

Earlier today, Nintendo reported its earnings for the last quarter of 2010, as well as the nine months leading up to December 31, and it found the firm with low profits and cutting its Wii sales forecast to 16 million units from 17.5 million units for the year to March.
It also reported the life-to-date sales of its DS line and Wii.

Kojima shows MGS4 on PSP2 in Tokyo

Earlier this morning, Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima appeared at Sony’s unveiling of its NGP system to show off a demo of Metal Gear Solid 4 running on the hardware.
The demo is a cut-scene in the opening section of Guns of the Patriots, where Old Snake is introduced to the Mk. II via Otacon. It’s also where he gets his Solid Eye. Watch the video below, via GameSpot.
NGP releases this year in Japan. Kojima said at the event he will announce his new game for the system at E3 in June.

Japanese hardware charts, January 17 – 23: PSP takes top spot from PS3

Media Create has released the latest hardware sales figures for Japan, and it finds PSP back in first place again, which can be attributed to the debut of Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix.

BioWare issues workaround for Mass Effect 2 on PS3, patch coming soon

Earlier this week, Mass Effect 2 producer Jesse Houston asked players having save corruption issues with Mass Effect 2 to post their issues in the game’s error discussion thread. This was so the team could find out where the problems were occuring and start working on a fix. Today, BioWare has issued a workaround while the patch is being worked on.

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix knocked Monster Hunter Portable 3rd from its cushy number one spot on the Japanese software charts, moving over 77,000 units during its debut.
