NPD December 2010 – Xbox 360 sees YoY increase with 1.86 million units, Black Ops is software winner

NPD figures for the month of December 2010, released last night, showed that Xbox 360 enjoyed year-on-year increase for the month – the only console to do so – with 1.9 million sales in the US.
Call of Duty: Black Ops topped the December charts, and was also named the biggest-selling American game of 2010.

PlayStation 3 to launch in China as Sony opens local facilities

NPD 2010 figures show sales downturn

There’s been a lot of celebration of the NPD’s recently released 2010 US sales figures, but among the cheering is a note of concern. Compared to 2009′s figures, game and hardware sales were down six percent right across the board.
On the up side, that’s less of a down turn than last year.

Nintendo tops US console sales for past five years

Nintendo has made an official statement in response to the NPD’s release of US sales figures for 2010, highlighting its performance as the best selling console manufacturer of the last decade.
NoA’s Charlie Scibetta said that Nintendo had topped the charts for five years straight, adding, “Of the quarter billion hardware systems sold in the United States during the past 10 years, Nintendo sold more than half.”

Call of Duty: Black Ops tops NPD’s 2010 best sellers list

The NPD has released a top ten list of the best selling games of 2010 and amazingly, Call of Duty: Black Ops is royally serene at the very head.
Other notable entries include Black Ops’ precursor, Modern Warfare 2, at eighth place; Red Dead Redemption at fifth; and NBA 2K11 sneaking in at tenth.
