Bleszinski lecture confirmed for GDC, gets a time and a date

ThinkServices has just confirmed it’ll have a seminar from Epic Games’ Cliff Bleszinski at GDC in March.
The company’s lead designer will talk in a session called “Industry Lessons Learned and Applying Them to the Road Ahead” and it will take place on Thursday March 3, from 1:30- 2:30pm PST.
“Come see me rant about stuff for a while,” said Bleszinski on the matter via Twitter.
Here’s part of the synopsis given by TS:
“The talk then continues on about branding – not only an IP but also characters and even and one’s self as a developer. The lecture will continue, then, to discuss the importance of story and context, the fact that a genre can live or die based on its camera, as well as fun tips such as how to use the seven deadly sins to make a better game.
Finally, the current state of the industry and the future will also be discussed with Bleszinski’s thoughts on AAA gaming, social gaming, and the connected future, as well as general observations about the manner in which the gaming industry is run.”
This’ll be Bleszinski’s first dev talk talk in “several years”.
Also confirmed for the spring event is a 3DS talk from Nintendo’s Hideki Konno and a talk from Retro and Nintendo reps on Donkey Kong Country Returns.
Nintendo president Satoru Iwata will keynote this year’s event, as announced last week by organisers.
GDC takes place from February 28-March 4.
Thanks, GameSetWatch.

Them dead, dead eyes continue to terrify me.
Give it a few generations and he’ll become a legend unto himself – as a sort of boogey-man.
CliffyB made drab, boring, lifeless games which bad little girls and boys had to play. And if they were especially bad, they’d get to meet the horror in person. Those children were somehow always -less- for the experience. Never the same again.
I’m not joking, here. He has the most dead, lifeless face I’ve ever seen. I’m beginning to think he’s undead. Some sort of ancient, game-developing necromaster. And the reason his games are so uninspired is because you can’t get much inspiration out of a zombie.
Mark Rein only adds credence to this theory.

And he did create my favorite game of all time, Gears (and that is over 30+ years of gaming). I had to sink at least 1000 hours into Gears.

Just got finished playing the bulletstorm demo on both the 360 and PS3. PS3 hands down looks and plays better. So anyone on the fence I say get the PS3 version.

Interviewed Bleszinski once before the release of the first Gears. Instead of talking about the actual game, we spent half of the Q&A discussing games we looked forward to. That guy has a passion and respect for games made by other developers that is rarely openly celebrated by other devs. He’s a genuine gamer and a nice chap too. The fact that he sometimes likes to be the center of attention doesn’t change that.
