GameStop taking pre-orders for NGP, laughter ensues

gamestop

Those ready for a hearty laugh today, should head on over to GameStop and take a gander at the pre-order page for PSP2.

The pre-order can be yours for no less than $999.

It’s okay. You can laugh. We did.

Sony announced NGP, otherwise known as PSP2 in Japan today, and has yet to set a price on the handheld. However, Sony has said it won’t be $599 and that it will be affordable.

Apparently, GameStop didn’t get the memo. Granted, the pre-order page states that the actual price is to be determined, but still, $999? Didn’t it do something similar with PS3? Come on, GameStop.

Thanks, Joystiq.

Obviously just a false price for the moment until they announce the real price

@6 True, but still a laugh nonetheless. They did the same thing with PS3. Who would lay down $999 without a price anyway? Glad to know some people have that just sitting around.

Fucking gamestop. Bunch of cunts.

If they had half a brain they wouldn’t price some of their USED games higher than the same game NEW…..AND they’d have listed the NGP/PSP2 at $199-$249 to give Sony a fucking HINT.

I dont understand why vg hasn’t figured out GS all ready. It’s a place holder price for something that is TBA, and games get place holder dates until the games are given an actual date so gamestop can take reserves on them.

Drop the current PSP to $129.99 or better yet $99 and drop this for $249.99 but lets be real here. Its going to be priced in the $299-$349 range. Don’t get your hopes to high guys. Its “SONY” they come second to over pricing shit compared to the master of over pricing shit ‘APPLE”

Just curious….for potential comparisons sake…

What did the original PSP first launch at pricewise? And how much was it’s brother console at the time? (not sure if that’s PS2 or PS3, too busy at work right now to research)

Thank god they’ve denied. While it does look like temporary, nothing’s impossible when it comes to Sony pricing. They’ve already hurt both PS3 and PSP Go with insane launch prices.

Haha, man if Sony actually did that I would light my PS3 on fire and go right out and buy a 360.

^ Lies, there arent any HD screenshots through that link. Just a single pic by Kotaku taken off the the PSP2′s screen.

Sticking your own water mark on other peoples pics isnt cool, bro.
