Killzone 3 single-player demo releasing on February 9

There will be two separate downloads available from the PlayStation Store: one in 2D and one in 3D. Both versions will take place on the “Icy Incursion” level. Don’t worry – downloading the 3D version and playing it on your 2D TV won’t break anything… you’ll just see a message saying “No 3D TV detected.” The 2D version has splitscreen co-op as well, a feature not available in the 3D demo.

These demos will be PlayStation Move-enabled, giving gamers a chance to experience Killzone 3 with the most immersive controls. When you get your hands on the demo, be sure to try out one of my favorite new mechanics, the Brutal Melee attacks. Get close to your enemy and hit the melee button (or thrust your PlayStation Move motion controller at the screen).

That’s interesting info thanks. The split of 2D and 3D plus the 2D having split screen indicates that the 3D stuff is going to be more than just split screen upscaled. If someone could help me with my general FPS apathy I might be able to get up the enthusiasm to download it :/.

What FPS games do you have DrDamn and for what system? Im sure if you played with me youd have lots of fun. I like to make things less of a competition and more of a fun and gun experience. Ask callum….im sure he had a blast the only time he played with me.

YEA BOI! I’m so glad I became a PSN+ member. The benefits are so good and I will be playing this in 3D I’m telling you guys go get your 3Dtvs. Its worth it when it comes to gaming and some movies. I bet SONY will have a KZ3 3Dtv bestbuy sale. Something like they did with GT5 bundle.

I just got a new 55″ LED tv for $250….sold my old 720p for $400….i dont think ill ever afford a 3D tv lol….. Is it really that good, playing games in 3D??

Awesome news! I played the Crysis 2 and Bulletstorm demos last night, then I went back to “botzone” in the Killzone3 beta, and I was, once again, completely blown away.

This game will OWN the FPS genre for some time to come I imagine.

I tend to prefer tactical over run and gun. So more of a BFBC2 player than CoD – though I do also buy the CoD’s occasionally. No preference for platform – just what ever suits it better, where my friends are – have 360 and PS3.

I think I’ve just got a bit bored with FPSs recently. I can see lots doing different little things which all look interesting. I’m suffering from FPS fatigue – need to give them a rest for a while.

@9 Killzone 3 is more akin to BFBC2 than CoD. With a bit of Team Fortress 2 thrown in, albeit far fewer hats.

That said I can’t see it doing much for FPS fatigue. Rather than force yourself to be interested you should just go and play something completely different, like Yakuza 3. At any one time I’ll tend to alternate between two different genres, it greatly reduces the chances of burning out on either.

@ spider when I bought my 55″ 3dtv bravia I was thinking about down grading and getting two 46″. One for me and one for you but the shipping fee would have cost almost the same for a third one…..and I’m kinda glad I didn’t I love this 55″ beast

Also to add though….if you prefer tactical to run and gun i think thats where the fatigue is coming from. probably getting tired of the seriousness of tactics. I lost interest in FPS too but i realized it was because i was taking it too seriously. I relaxed a bit, played them for shits and giggles and quickly got back into them. If you still worry about your score at the end, trust me, if you have fun and learn to play freely and foolishly, your score wont go down one bit. I would play BFBC2 like a an idiot with a gun and i still managed a 2.3 k/d ratio after getting the platinum trophy. Same goes for COD MW2. I would play it seriously and sometimes get frustrated and ended up with a .98 k/d ratio. I stopped playing fps, came back with a silly attitude and rose my k/d to 1.78 at the end of my 10th pretige.
Download the KZ3 multiplayer beta on the 2nd of feb. Ill be on most of that day and week. We’ll do some tactical tomfoolery. Im sure that will get you back into FPS
In the mean time, take Aim’s advice. Play some other games outside the genre.
Suggestions: Castlevania Lords of Shadow, NBA2k11 (i dont like sports games but this is a blast), XBLA Boom Boom Rocket, Enslaved (360 version is better), Shadow Complex, Sega All-Stars racing (more fun than mario kart wii to me), Spiderman Shattered Dimensions, Mega Man 10, or bring out an old system like Dream Cast and have at it.

So its that good huh? 55″ beast? maybe i will go for the 65″ glory.
Hmmmm…… Might have to get back into tattoo designs and try to save up for one for myself.

Damn right, man, I’ve been playing Botzone for days now, no matter it’s only 2 maps, it just drags you in! No time left for Black Ops! Killzone 3 is gonna RULE.

So this is what i am talking about, a single player demo and an MP beta.
This is wicked, i can’t wait to see how the story folds.
