Have we had any confirmation on whether the region locking is hardware or software specific?

it seems software specific for the whole game but hardware specific for online features, so this having no online means its up to the publisher. at least thats what i’ve gathered

It sounds very much to me like the region-locking is going to be non-optional, given that they’ve specifically said it’ll be on both hardware and software.

Are all DSi-enhanced carts region-locked, regardless of online functionality?

Yeah, they work as DS carts but the DSi features are disabled if the cart’s from the wrong region. I don’t know what those features are though, and if they’re just network options.

I suspect this is going to be bad news rather than good, anyway. For a fortnight until the hackers crack it, that is.
