Steam version of Dead Space 2 refuses to “activate”

ds2error

It looks as though Steam gamers are being denied access to the now-released Dead Space 2.

Reports over on Valve’s forums suggest that users who’ve purchased the high-rated horror are unable to play the game after downloading it.

Serial keys provided by EA don’t activate when entered. It’s unknown at this point of time whether this is due to invalid serials or a server issue.

A Valve employee has acknowledged the issue and said they have contacted EA to find a resolution:

We’ve contacted EA about this, so hopefully it will get resolved soon.

Dead Space 2 released today to glowing reviews.

We’ve contacted EA for comment.

The game’s also available on PS3 and Xbox 360.

If its not released in the UK until Jan 27th but its out in the USA, then it will be locked. The same thing happened when we got Total War early – but couldnt install it for another 3 days.

However, after enough screaming on the forums, the game was later unlocked
