Nintendo provides feature details on Pokémon Black and Pokémon White

Nintendo has sent over a note explaining the expanded features for Pokémon Black and Pokémon White on DS.

One of the features, according to Nintendo, is the debut of Triple Battles which are conducted in three-on-three format. Triple Battles is said to introduce "even more strategy to the game’s already deep battle system," and depending on a Pokémon’s placement in the battle lineup, it will only be able to attack certain Pokémon from an opponent’s trio. The way this works is, say for example you have a Pokémon in the center of the battle: you will be able to attack any of the three opponents; however, if a Pokémon is positioned on the left or right of the formation, the Pokémon can only attack the one in the middle of the opposing lineup, or directly in front of it.

The new C-Gear device in Pokémon Black and Pokémon White was also detailed, and it allows players to use the IR Communication built into the game card. It gives players the ability to quickly connect with friends to not only battle and trade Pokémon, but enter easily enter Friend Codes as well by just using a tap of the stylus. C-Gear also grants players a variety of game play and communication tools that utilize a local wireless connection and the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service.

Another new feature in both versions is the Wi-Fi Random Matchup, which allows players to battle others from around the world over the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service without needing to exchange Friend Codes.

Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version will both launch on March 6 in North America.
