World of StarCraft week “flipped my life upside down”, says modder

Ryan Winzell has described the roller coast week he had after his World of StarCraft mod was pulled from YouTube as one which “pretty much flipped my life upside down.”
Speaking with Kotaku following his Riot application offering and an invitation to visit Blizzard’s studios, Winzell has said the mod “go forward,” with a demo likely within a year – but under likely under the name StarCraft Universe. It will be a collaborative effort with German modder mille25, who also created a StarCraft-style MMO with the game’s toolkit. Winzell said it is a name approved by Blizzard.
As far as a possible job with Riot Games is concerned though, the design communications student told the site he “really asn’t prepared for all of this,” and doesn’t “even have a resumĂ© typed up.”
“I’m working on that to send one in to them,” said Winzell. “I feel like, I don’t know, like I’m still in a dream.”

Picked on modder makes good, glad to see that, really.
The truth is is that modders tend to pour a lot of labour, time, and passion into their efforts and they don’t nearly get the respect they deserve for it.
Watching the Blizzard horde of fanboys go on about how stupid and/or evil the modder is for taunting the saintly Blizzard was absolutely sickening to me. It just shows how many PC owners have their heads up their rears, sometimes. PC owners do sometimes make fun of Live subscribers, but believe me when I say that Live subscribers have nothing on the blatant, open, bald-faced idiocy of Blizzard fanboys.
Nothing.
Blizzard fanboys are living constructs of herp and derp.
And really, modders don’t get enough respect, considering how they extend the life of games. Neverwinter Nights 1, the original, is still alive and kicking thanks to some particularly brilliant efforts by modders. New life was given to Oblivion by Nehrim. And Puce Moose’s mods for Fallout 3 are truly sublime and some of the best quest content I’ve seen in an RPG.
So this whole thing bugged me. I actually found it genuinely depressing that people could be so shitty to modders.
But seeing that the modder made good makes me happy.

I think Blizzard new secret MMO is already World of Starcraft…

@2: That’d be the most ridiculous name ever though, wouldn’t it?
‘World of Sun Construction’?
I’m not sure whether their game’s name will truly be that.

@2 We all know that is not true, they already said on official note that the new mmo they’re making is a new IP.

Turning on the third person camera and letting people choose the color of the unit they use doesn’t make it an MMO.
