Street Fighter producer loves idea of Nintendo x Capcom, wants to pitch to Smash Bros lead

Ryu and Heihachi walk into a bar. They fight. Later, Ryu and Pikachu walk into a bar. They also fight.

Gaming punchlines are a predictable (and unintentionally literal) lot. And we're all right with that.

During the recent 3DSplosionpocalpyse, Cubed3 asked Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono if he'd be interested in tossing a few Nintendo characters into the brawl (or melee, depending on your personal preference). Ono, however, did the publication one better.

He excitedly said that he'd like to pit Street Fighter's street fighters against Smash Bros' smash brothers - in other words, a full-on Nintendo x Capcom fighting game. Ono then added that he hopes to pitch such a game to Nintendo of Japan and Smash Bros lead Masahiro Sakurai.

Sounds like the perfect formula for goofy, fan-service-packed fisticuffs to us, so here's hoping Nintendo's feeling open-minded. Granted, balancing Nintendo's cast of all heights, shapes, and sizes with Street Fighter's fairly uniform humans might prove challenging. Here's a tip, though: Pika Man is not the answer. For the love of God, he really, really isn't.
