Confirmed: Bulletstorm demo lands January 25 on PSN and XBL

EA’s just confirmed in a press release it’s releasing the demo to Bulletstorm on January 25 on PSN and Xbox Live.
The demo will show off a taste of the “Echo mode in which players traverse a collapsed building on the deadly paradise planet Stygia as ex-Dead Echo leader Grayson Hunt.
“Players will utilize the Skillshot system in Bulletstorm as they crush enemies in increasingly creative ways to rack up points using an arsenal of powerful weapons, from a futuristic assault rifle called the Peace Maker Carbine, to the Flail Gun, which fires two grenades linked by a chain, and the Screamer, a powerful revolver that turns enemies into human fireworks.”
It’ll be out on the Euro PSN on January 26.
A Eurogamer Portugal report last night first outed the news that EA was to release a demo for Xbox 360 and PS3 of the People Can Fly shooter, but the publisher remained officially quiet until now.

Just trying to get a definite on this. As far as I can see it’s only EG.pt that’s gone live with it.

A demo is exactly what this game needed. It plays beautifully so I can see a lot of people picking it up after giving the game a try.

As far as I can see, there’s been no announcement of this. We’re just trying to get official word.

They still quote Eurogamer Portugal as source, so until Patrick confirms, i’ll just hold my breath.

Bulletstorm doesn’t do “confirmations”. It kicks your door in, pukes on the couch, shags your signifigant other and then says “oh by the way, here’s your fucking demo”.

The amazing thing I wonder to myself is:
after all the hype and all of the time waiting what if the duke is outdone by this game? XD
They’re both fps games where you clearly are not supposed to take them seriously and albeit one is more subtle about it than the other. But who will be the better game?

@13
Was thinking the same thing the other day while watching the latest Bulletstorm trailer. I hope the idea to revive DNF wasn’t too little too late as this looks to be complete carnage! Im sure Gearbox will be following it’s reception very close, and god help them if it makes them think about delaying Duke!
Come to think of it, has it even got a release window yet?!

I think it’s more score based (arcade style score attack), the multiplayer aspect should just be leaderboards

I’ve updated the story. We’re not getting anything out of anyone on this.

@15 One theory I’ve heard which sounds somewhat plausible is that companies dislike putting out pre-release PC demos because it gives pirates a step up on the EXE cracking process.
Not to say it’s a good reason, but it certainly sounds like the thought process a company might have.

Thanks for trying guys. Guess we’ll wait and see. I suspect their being coy about it is almost confirmation of the demo dropping on or around the 25th.

Nice
i have no doubt this game will be a blast, i may not bother with the demo and just wait to play it fo real. As i tend to just fuck about in demos and rush though them which in turn ruins that level when i get the whole game

I’m not convinced on this one at all, so I’ll probably give the demo a whirl just to see.

@Blerk
I kinda feel the same way. It looks like a more meaty and scripted Borderlands to me.
Then again, Borderlands with added chaos, physics, gore and points awarded for stringing it all together? I’ll buy that for a dollah.

SPEC ops the line, that came out of nowhere, being that it’s a third-person action game – you know, #31? Not sure why you mentioned that, since it’s questionable that it will even be here, before the end of year. I’d definitely like to see the coverage increase on it, so maybe it’ll be a part of GDC.
There’s a demo for Bulletstorm, so fair play there, I’ll give it a look, albeit with tepid enhusiasm. Maybe the demo will show it to be worthwhile.

@28: all that sounds great, until you got to the part about stringing it all together. When for me it loses all appeal. Then, you consider trying to play it in multi where each player would have their own combo going, and to get the big points, you’re bound to need everyone to contribute, and it all becomes a bit like a flowchart to organise, with minimum space for error and maximum, for annoyance. Probably just as well to play an MMO, or something, instead.

I liked it better the first this game came out…………. When it was called QUAKE. All the wacky weapons and stuff will grow old within 1 week.
