Over 26K people attended Nintendo World 2011 over the weekend

It looks as though Nintendo World 2011 was a success, as over 26K people packed themselves into the Makuhari Messe convention center for the three-day event.

According to Mainichi, via Andriasang, the number may be big, but it's still no match for the Nintendo World Touch! DS event which had an attendance of 83,363. Even the Nintendo Space World 2001 event, held over three-days in 2001, saw 81,000 attendees.

However, the Nintendo World 2011 event was held primarily so that 3DS would have better exposure come the World Hobby Fair, which will tour four cities  starting in Osaka this weekend. A Tokyo showing is set for the following week.

You can get caught up on all that happened at NW11 through our coverage of Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3.

Nintendo 3DS will see a release in Japan on February 26, with a supposed March date for Europe and the US to be announced.
