Mass Effect 2 PS3 gets PSN-Blu-ray sim-launch, release trailer

masseffect215

BioWare’s confirmed it’ll release Mass Effect 2 on PS3 in downloadable form as well as at retail on Blu-ray next week.

As far as we know, this is the first time a major third-party game has launched on Blu-ray and PSN on the same day on PS3.

EA Germany’s also released the launch trailer for the PS3 version, which details some of the story behind Shepard, the Collectors and more. That’s below.

The PS3 edition will release with all of the premium DLC that’s launched on 360 and PC on the disc, bar some smaller stuff. That’ll appear via the Cerberus Network.

Mass Effect 2 launches next Tuesday in the US and next Friday in the UK for PS3. One more piece of PDLC will hit for the game before the release of Mass Effect 3 this holiday season.

Given EA’s pricing of downloadable PSP games I fully expect this to cost £49.99.

In other words I’ll stick to my disk, thanks.

I tried the demo on my PS3, even though i have the game for 360 since its launch. But i noticed several slowdowns in cutscenes, and at times it simply looked less impressive. I guess it has to do with it being on the Unreal engine, and just like Enslaved. That game was better in several aspects on the 360.

Still weird, cause isn’t ME2 (PS3) running on the ME3 engine?

Come on dude, not this shit again Moon. Lets not start the shit talking

But sdo you dont confuse the people that dont follow:
There were actually less slow downs in the Demo than xbox360 buddy. It has already been proven to have a better framerate and in some cases shoot up to 45-59fps in the cutscenes. PS3 version has about 7% more screen tears however but the Framrate is higher and far more consistant than the 360. Also, there are more details in the 360 version as in character rendering but Lighting and Effects are better in PS3.
Basically, both versions will have flaws with one version having better than the other but overall should be the same experience.

They agree with me/i agree with them. And i really dislike it that you call it shit stalking when i am quite obviously not. I didn’t know this was forbidden.

Just take a look at the third screenshot in the first link for example…

Not only is there clearly more detail on Shepards face, the lighting is better, but look at the shadow from his hand on his face. It’s clearly there on the 360 shot but not at all on the PS3, seems missing.

4th screenshot, clearly better looking textures on the tiles/floor. And overal the 360 shot looks better. Not hating or whatsoever here, just stating the obvious. And as for the framerate…all you have to do is check the video. I am not lying here.

I disagree with the detail in characters being superior if they fixed lighting and shadow effects. When I saw the side by side comparisons on the shots of shepard on his back. I noticed that it was cool I saw the veins an muscles showin on shepards face and kneck. But, it made no since.

He clearly had light from a above angle in the pic but the shadows casted like the light came from below. With the brightness on the ps3 screenshot it looked more correct to see less detail and a more pale appearance. But, hey not everyones an artist and care about that detail

That’s true, but what Spider says is clearly untrue. About the framerate being that high on the PS3 version. That video comparison doesn’t lie. And i personally noticed it too when playing the demo on my PS3. I don’t understand why some people always try to deny things and what not.

Now, that’s one thing I don’t agree with. This recent urge for digital foundry and lens of truth comparisions on demos as opposed to retail out the doors. That kinda gets my panties in a bunch.( and yes I own panties! I have bought my wife plenty of them)

Ok i can agree with that, but let’s see their findings when the full game has come out. It wouldn’t surprise me if it stays the same. Enslaved is another good example, it’s no big deal though cause no doubt PS3 only owners will love ME2.

I doubt they’ll do another comparison to be honest. I was waiting months for the retail comparison of swfu2 from df. And, nothing! But, I also haven’t gone back to df in a while because a lot of their recent comps. Look for flaws they never looked for before.(I went back and read some of their old comparisons)

Like their vanquish comparison they went as far to measure the controllers response time. That’s something I expect them to do on a fighting game not an action

Gee even rocks know LoT are funded by Microsoft.
Articles have been removed because they were biased and eventually wrong.Final Fantasy XIII anyone?
You want real comparisons go with DF.
You’re talking about a demo,seriously?

The whole idea of LoT is comparisons yeah? That’s “what they do” so why the fuck are they having difficulty getting the same frame from both versions for the comparison? How do I judge whether shading is absent in one or the other if it’s not the same frame? A few frames on the light source can move thus the shading changes.

I dont know Moonwalker1982. There’s one picture you complained about, and the xbox shadows are all blocky on that picture, and the ps3′s is detailed, you can even see the shape of his ear on the shadow. And the rest seems to be a brightness adjustment to be honest, seems the brightness is really high on the ps3 pics. It’s also quite hard to tell when the frames are not even the same. I say turn down the brightness in options on the ps3 and do another comparison. And btw, that site is filled with fanboys. :P Anyways, a day one buy for me, thats for sure, i loved ME1.
