During its CES keynote tonight, Microsoft announced that its X-themed, thankfully-not-X-shaped, console has shipped 50 million units worldwide.

Xbox Live, meanwhile, currently sits at 30 million registered users. That’s a healthy 5 million jump from last November, when Microsoft pegged the number at 25 million.

Microsoft said earlier in the presentation that Kinect sales stand at 8 million units after 60 days at retail.

Because they published it weeks ago?

And also because GT5′s numbers are just what Sony shipped for launch. Sales through data indicates Sony haven’t really got too near the 5.5 million actually sold through.
