GDC gets Thief 4 talk, more Battlefield 3 included

thief4a

GDC organisers have just announced it’s to host the “the first public presentation” of Thief 4 at this year’s event in San Francisco in March.

Eidos Montreal’s Paul Weir will “argue for the benefits of using generative music in games… I will show our custom generative system (GRAMPS), demonstrate its key design features and suggest some best practice techniques.”

Weir added that he intends to show “how using a single person as the composer, sound designer and audio director on a AAA title can help create a unified sound field.”

It’s the first formal mention of the game since it was announced in May 2009. Literally nothing else has been announced since, with Eidos Montreal working on Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Organisers have also confirmed a second Battlefield 3 talk for the show, featuring “SPU-based Deferred Shading in Battlefield 3 for PlayStation 3″, to be held by DICE’s Christina Coffin.

A previously announced Battlefield 3 talk by DICE’s Kenny Magnusson will also take place at the Moscone Center

GDC takes place between February 28-March 4.

Thanks, Gama.

Actually, I heard of next EidosMtl game (not Deus Ex HR, the next, next game) a few weeks ago, on a web radio show, they said they couldn’t say anything, but that it was impressive for an alpha version.
