Game Informer ed Andrew Reiner has confirmed on Twitter that the sequel he said yesterday that would be in the new issue of the magazine is the new Silent Hill.

He tweeted this just a short time ago:

The game I was talking about this week is Silent Hill. Unfortunately, I can’t reveal the full name of it yet.”

Silent Hill 8 was announced at E3 last year by Konami for PS3 and 360.

The magazine has also revealed its next cover: Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The back of the cover, once translated into English, will reveal the first story information from the game.

There’s more details here.

The Silent Hill franchise has been dead since 4, and unless they get the original crew back, it’s never going to reach that pinnacle again.

I thought it was meant to be an “unannouced sequel”? We already know about the new Silent Hill.

And why is this Silent Hill 8? Homecoming was the fifth. Unless people are counting Origins & Shattered Memories, but since when did spin-offs count?

They tweet its an unannounced game, then they say it’s Silent Hill. You know, the game that was announced at last year’s E3 along with a FREAKING trailer.

    @3

I’d rather be shot dead than have a remake of Silent Hill 2. Team Silent basically don’t exist anymore, the franchise is being butchered over and over. Let it die please.

Could be a sequel to Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. That game was pretty damned awesome.

No its not why because Shattered Memories was a remake of the first Silent Hill and the trailer shows a prisoner going to silent hill. What they are probably talking about is the subtitle of the game, Silent Hill: blahblah.

I can’t wait to read more info on this game, hoping that it delivers atleast what Shattered Memories did.

Silent Hill, a series suffering from Sonic syndrome.

“No, the next one will be the one where they get it right”.

    They won’t.

While Silent Hill series have been going downhill for some time, I think that’s not a fair comparison.
It takes Sonic Team level of skills to destroy a franchise like that.

@11 You’re assuming that this is the title that Konami revealed at E3. It doesn’t have to be. Konami most definitely aren’t above developing several Silent Hill titles at once.

Could be a 3DS title as well.

I agree with almost everybody here. Silent Hill now it’s a new kind of Saw movies for videogamers. Every game after Team Silent died was total SHIT. Origins, oh my God what a mediocre game. Homecoming, holy shit… I can’t believe that even got a single sale, it was AWFUL. Shattered Memories? Ok, looks like the new team assholes’ imagination went 0% and they want to remake using their BRIGHT idead to bring this saga back to life.
You want Silent Hill? Go play Silent Hill (1999), Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 3 or even Silent Hill 4: The Room.

We already know the name of the next Silent Hill. It’s Silent Hill Downpour. He was reveal in the last french OPSM. There was 4 pages with infos screens and an interview of Brian Gomez, director of the game. It was also reveal that there are no Pyramid Head and nurse. Ennemies are not in huge quantity because the goal is to make effects of surprise so players will fear that a monster appears the next time they are in the same situation. Side quests will be include and some appears with choices you made. Weapons are to be find in the environment. With the boss, players should find the good weapon in the place for fight him. Her goal is to me an unhealthy atmosphere.

    Sorry for my english.

The think that make me laugh is that he can’t reveal the name but, in France, OPSM can^^
