Operation Hastings unlocked for all BF: Bad Company 2 Platforms

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 developer DICE is feeling the holiday spirit; it’s extended the hand of charity to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners in the form of a free unlock of the Operation Hastings map.

Operation Hastings is a controversial inclusion in the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam expansion, remaining locked to its purchasers until the combined powers of one platform or another managed a whopping 69 million co-operative teamplay actions.

Despite dwindling numbers, PC owners managed a victory in DICE’s platform community challenge, enacting 69 million revives, assists and resupplies before either of the console platforms could get their socks on. Thankfully, both consoles are now in on the action despite the loss to a highly organised PC assault.

With all five Vietnam maps unlocked, and four more available in a discrete map pack, Bad Company 2 now sports nine additional arenas on top of its packaged content.

No further DLC has been announced, and while the Swedish developer has promised continuing support for the title, the core franchise is expecting an update in the second half of 2011.

Fuck, I want Vietnam but I don’t wanna pay 1200 points. Deal of the week at 800 and I’m absolutely sold.

Dammit it’s probably worth the price :(
